Taking Care Of Yourself Mentally

Mental health is defined as a person’s condition with regard to their psychological and emotional well-being. There are many factors that go into the contribution of your mental health. Biological factors, life experiences, and family history all contribute to your mental healths well-being.

So how do I take care of myself mentally so I don't get burned out? For starters having a "self care day" can work wonders. A self care day may include using your favorite candle while taking a bath with a new bath bomb. For others it may look like cozying up with a blanket and a good book. Truth be told there is no right or wrong way to do this. As long as your activity is safe and helps your mind rest you are good to go!

Taking mental days can help you in a number of ways. It helps you regulate your emotions, focus better, and keeps the burn out at bay. You may be asking yourself "what is this burnout you keep touching on?" Burnout is a form of exhaustion caused by continuous feelings of being overwhelmed. This results from prolonged emotional, physical, and mental stress. By taking some much needed time for yourself you can greatly decrease your chances of mental burnout.

Check out this list of ways you can take care of yourself mentally:

  1. Eat healthy
  2. Get enough sleep
  3. Practice good hygiene
  4. See friends
  5. Do something you enjoy everyday (even if its small)
  6. Find ways to relax

With these tips in mind, how are you going to help your mental health? What do you already do to relax from time to time? Do you already have self care days? If so, whats your routine?

All of this! Over time I’ve come to terms with the fact that I won’t get anything done if I’m too stressed so I might as well take a few moments to myself to relax before jumping back into tasks. You’re never wasting time by taking care of yourself!

I love this!! And it’s hard for a lot of people…people like myself who find telling others ‘no’ a very difficult task! I have learned recently to slow down some and just ignore the world around me. We live in such a chaotic world that we are constantly worried something will happen or someone will need us…and we won’t be available. I have started reminding myself, there was once a day when something happened it took days for people to find out through letter or a few days travel…so me going missing for a few hours isn’t all that bad!

Love this… I know that as I have gotten older, I’ve put this more into practice. I sure wish I had done so when I had all the kids in the house running around.

Love this blog, I hardly ever take time to myself. I mean really, I rarely spend alone time doing something just for me. So this is a helpful reminder that it’s okay to want to do something for myself sometimes!
